Martino Jerian
CEO and Founder
Martino Jerian is the CEO and Founder of Amped Software. He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering (summa cum laude) from the University of Trieste, Italy, where his thesis focused on forensic image processing. In 2008, he founded Amped Software, leading the development of advanced tools for image and video forensics. With a strong background in software engineering, he played a key role in designing and driving the initial development of the company’s products. Martino has been a contract professor in university courses on investigations, forensics, and intelligence. He has authored multiple scientific papers in the field of image and video forensics and has served as a forensic expert in high-profile judicial cases. His work bridges the gap between cutting-edge technology and the pursuit of security and justice.
The authenticity of multimedia content has always been a complex issue, but in the era of deepfakes, reducing it to a simple “real or fake” dichotomy based solely on technical analysis risks oversimplifying the problem and ultimately making it worse. Today, most devices used to capture photos and videos rely on computational photography techniques, making the boundaries between processing, enhancement, and manipulation increasingly blurred. To truly address the issue, we need to take a step back and examine it within a broader context.
What do the concepts of integrity and authenticity actually mean?
Which processes can impact them, and how?
How can a rigorous scientific investigation be conducted when it is not even clear how much the starting point can be trusted?
In this presentation, we will explore how “deepfake forensics” provides a far more nuanced perspective than simple deepfake detection, and how it can be used to approach these questions in a more objective and informed way.

Estimating Vehicle Speed from Video – A Forensic Workflow with Amped FIVE
Alexander Fehrmann
Trainer and Technical Support Specialist
Alexander joined Amped Software in June 2024 as a Trainer and Technical Support Specialist.
Alexander's journey in forensic media technology began with his role at the Forensic Commissariat of the Salzgitter Police Inspectorate, where he was actively involved in crime scene investigation and document examination. During this period, he also became an active member of expert groups focused on quality standards in forensic photography.
In 2009, Alexander embarked on a two-and-a-half-year training course to become a professional photographer. After completing his training, he worked as a freelance photographer for several years in advertising photography and event photography. In 2017, he completed forensic training for crime scene work with the police.
Since August 2021, Alexander has been a part of the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office. In this capacity, he specialized in forensic photography, multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, 3D imaging, and video forensics. As the lead trainer at the Lower Saxony Police Academy, he excelled in planning and conducting workshops on advanced forensic techniques.
Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys staying active by working out and spending time outdoors on long walks whenever possible.
Video footage can support collision investigation by providing a basis for estimating vehicle speed and distance travelled. Amped FIVE offers a dedicated Speed Estimation 2D filter for measurement, photogrammetry and speed analysis in collision cases.
This session walks through the forensic workflow behind Speed Estimation 2D: the spatial requirements (planar surface, reference object, contact point), the temporal side (frame timing from PTS data, handling incomplete timestamps), and how per-point uncertainties combine into a defensible range for distance and speed.
The aim is a clear view of when video is suitable for speed analysis, what a forensically sound workflow looks like, and how the output sits alongside established collision reconstruction methods.

Forensic Analyst
Emi is an international Trainer at Amped Software and continues to assist Police forces, the CPS and criminal defense firms with the interpretation of video and audio evidence in court. He joined the Amped team in 2021. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of media and imagery and his CV also includes 10 years of employment as a technical director and senior video editor and engineer for a major international broadcaster based in London.
He is a LEVA Certified Forensic Video Analyst and a CCTV recovery, enhancement and analysis expert. He has worked as a forensic video/audio analyst and ISO17025 CCTV technical lead for a number of Police forces and leading forensic providers and has also provided testimony in court as an expert witness on several occasions in the southeastern region of the UK.
When he is not decoding proprietary video or conducting imagery analysis, you will find Emi on a tennis court attempting to be half as good at the sport as his teenage kid. He is also a keen guitar player with a passion for bush flying (and a few PPL hours under his belt).
Lucy Carey-Shields
Forensic Analyst
Lucy Carey-Shields is a forensic analyst with Amped Software, primarily providing technical support to Amped users. Her career started as a front-line officer with UK law enforcement in 2010 where she spent six years before graduating from her degree in computer forensics in 2014, when she shortly afterwards started work in a digital forensics unit alongside her front-line duties. She now has over ten years of law enforcement and digital forensics experience in both video, mobile and computer forensics cases.

We are humans, we have feelings and we pride ourselves for providing a support service which is fast, personal and relevant, always.
We sort license issues, we investigate the video formats that don’t play ball, we offer assistance to your forensic workflows and we liaise with the company wizards that sort the zeroes and ones. We do this and much more!
In this session, we will let you in our support team and show you some interesting numbers and facts about the assistance requests we receive and how we tackle them internally.

From AI based video redaction to the detection of license plate characters and deepfake images, we will discuss how we make all our products transparent and compliant with current regulations.
From Beginning to End: The Video Evidence Life Cycle
David Spreadborough
Forensic Analyst
David served as a UK Police Officer for 24 years, the final 12 of which were spent as a CCTV investigator. He was the first LEVA certified Forensic Video Analyst in Europe and remains one of only four outside of North America. Since working with Amped Software, David has provided a key role in the development of Amped Software’s technical training, as well as spreading his passion for jurisprudence reform through the latest technological innovations. He is still a practicing forensic video analyst and has frequently been called as an expert witness to assist legal teams and law enforcement with on-going criminal investigations.
Ensuring data and evidential integrity requires a transparent forensic pathway. Starting with acquisition, in this session we will consider several approaches and examine the challenges faced when evaluating uncontrolled exhibits.
Initial triage and simple media preparation can be hampered by unsuitable tools. Amped Replay was designed from the ground up to help you jump those hurdles and get the quick and easy tasks done, all without leaving the forensic bubble.
We will then move from Amped Replay to Amped FIVE and Amped Authenticate, and it’s here that we will spend most of our time.
